CLT PARKING

MIXED USE PARKING STRUCTURE

Springfield, Oregon

DESIGN A PARKING STRUCTURE USING NEW MASS TIMBER TECHNOLOGY TO REFLECT AND SUPPORT a CIVIC IDENTITY.

Focused mostly on developing a new construction material this group studio worked directly with the City of Springfield, Oregon, and the TallWood Design Institute.

Our project was designed to be very elegant and simple. Letting the wood speak for itself celebrates the pride that locals have in their logging history.

The project model and renderings traveled around the world to various wood technology conventions.

site model

Other site elements include a public plaza, housing, retail, and a rooftop event space. The site is currently undeveloped but will include a waterfront park with a hotel and continuous bike trails. (Team effort to build site model)

Mass timber moment frame detail

Working with a consulting structural engineer our team created a cutting edge mass timber moment frame detail in order to keep our structure as light and airy as possible.
